Concords

  • Grown In: Tontitown, Arkansas and Lodi, New York

  • Shipping: 2nd Week of August into Early November.

The Concord grape was originally developed in 1849 by Ephraim Wales Bull in Concord, Massachusetts. Today, Concord grapes make up almost 10% of the American grape crop. The skin of a Concord grape is typically dark blue or purple, and often is covered with a lighter colored "bloom" which can be rubbed off. Concord grapes have large seeds, are highly aromatic and the fruit can be easily separated from the skin. They are often used to make grape juice, jelly, or pie.

Classic Variety Grapes

Table varieties usually have lower sugar content than wine grapes and are more flavorful when eaten. Table grapes are divided into color categories of white or black (also referred to as red). White varieties range in color from pale yellow-green to light green. Black grapes are light red to purple-black.

The berries are high in vitamin C, phosphorus, calcium, and iron.
